Dannii Minogue has just been voted Glamour Magazine’s TV Personality Of The Year in a glitzy ceremony in London.
She was awarded the gong predominantly for her judging and mentoring role on the highly successful 2007 series of The X Factor. One of her brood, Leon Jackson, eventually went on to win the contest and released a cover of the Whitney/Mariah duet, “When You Believe”, reaching the top spot on both the British and Irish charts.
“Disco” Dannii meanwhile, with a string of 13 UK number one club charts successes under her belt, recently released a CD version of her “Club Disco” compilation in Australia – previously available only as a digital download in the UK.
A savvy recording artist in her own right, and now a revered, much loved and award-winning TV celebrity.
Congratulations Ms.M, on a well-deserved win!
7 NETWORK PRESS RELEASE:
“With a career that spans more than 25 years, very few experience the success and longevity in the entertainment industry that Dannii Minogue has. 29 years ago, a seven-year-old Dannii made her Australian television debut, singing and dancing on the popular variety show Young Talent Time. Fast forward to 2008 and Dannii is flipping the coin – joining Red Symons and Tom Burlinson on the judging panel for the second series of Australia’s Got Talent.
In early 2007, Dannii made a return to her roots in Australia for the premiere series of Australia’s Got Talent and found her extensive experience helped her place her feet firmly under the judging table. Dannii’s work on Australia’s Got Talent caught the eye of TV heavyweight Simon Cowell, who last year approached her to join the judging panel of the hugely successful The X Factor (UK).
Dannii mentored three contestants; two of who reached the final and one of who went onto become the winner! Dannii, is notably, the first female judge to lead a team to victory in this history of The X Factor. Even Simon Cowell had to admit, “Dannii Minogue really kicked our arse this year!” This fourth series went on to become The X Factor’s most successful year, smashing the already amazing record of 12 million viewers. Subsequently, the show has been named the most popular entertainment show of 2007 in the UK and Dannii has been voted TV Personality of the Year.”
