God bless the Sneaky Sound System gang for coming up with something a little different for the clip for their new single ‘Kansas City’ and here it is (below) in all it’s finery. The scene: Popping into the local Kansas City branch of ‘Betts”, complete with beaded curtains, Connie discovers a shiny new pair of ruby red slippers. It IS in fact the only pair of shoes in the store (there must be a shoe convention in town or they’ve just had stocktake for the end of the financial year). Naturally she thinks, ‘gosh, but my feet will look totally lickable in these’ (or not) and proceeds to try them on. Perhaps by stroke of luck (or that she found out during rehearsals) they fit! But in a horrible twist of fate, after clicking her heels together three times (everyone in Kansas City does this, apparently), said ruby slippers transport said pOp star into a strange puppet-laden landscape, complete with Thunderbird-esque variations of MC Double D and Black Angus (though how they got there without clicking their ruby red slippers, we’ll never quite understand). In said puppet world, they watch Sneaky Sound System on the television and dance like there’s no tomorrow (but not to Paula Abdul). Though when Thunderbird Connie sneezes and clicks her heels together too, she transports back to the glamorous shoe shop and doesn’t buy them, instead leaving them on a turning vinyl for some other poor hapless Kansas City local to find. The end.

The clip is perfect for the song.
