A few interesting movements over on the official ARIA charts this week that we thought it imperative to mention in the column inches of •auspOp•… Firstly Ms Katy Perry remains ensconced in the top spot for the second week in a row, due to a continued strong showing in the digital downloads chart and now on the physical singles chart, where she also debuts at No.1 this week. Following an awesome (but all too brief) little promo tour back home, Mister Sam Sparro bullets his way into the No.5 spot on the charts this week with ‘Black And Gold’. He’s at No.7 on both the digital track and physical singles charts and his pOptastic album debuts at No.23 over on the albums chart. Metro Station has moved up the charts an incredible 21 places to No.4 this week on digital downloads alone – a result that augers very well indeed for the longevity of this single too. And for proof that the hit movie ‘Mamma Mia’ is taking audiences by storm, look no further than the No.1 spot on the Australian albums chart – where the movie’s soundtrack now finds it’s home, knocking Coldplay off the top spot. Elsewhere for the Swedes, Abba Gold re-enters at No.4, ’18 Hits’ is at No.43 and ‘Number Ones’ debuts at No.49 – and amazingly, the single ‘Mamma Mia’ has also entered the ARIA Singles Charts at No.48 (on downloads alone), it’s first appearance on an official ARIA chart.
