Okay, so here’s a novel idea – get a classic Boom Crash Opera track and give it the 2008 workover. ‘The Best Thing’ was originally a hit for BCO in 1989 and lead vocalist Dale Ryder has re-recorded the vocals for this new version, which has been sitting atop the Australian club charts for more than a month. It’s all deliciously Australian (produced in Sydney, don’t you know) and it’s to be released to the public on August 18.
The video; Poor Tony… Sitting by himself in his dimly fluorescent-lit shed, tightening his nuts (!) and ogling the hot girls competing in the fictitious ‘Miss Planet Pageant’. But when poor 19 year old contestant Sandy King falls short of winning the crown, she starts bawling her eyes out, faints and plunges off the ‘pageant’ planet, rose-coloured frock billowing behind her. Naturally (and perhaps being led by his nether-regions) Tony decides to take the leap after her, nuts, bolts and spanners in tow. Thankfully they both land on some soft, fluffy clouds and decide to have a lovely little back-to-back sing-a-long in the heavens. But the silly slapper falls off! The end.
