IS KYLIE LEAVING PARLOPHONE?

The Kylie forums are abuzz with talk that Kylie Minogue is about to part ways with her record label of the past nine years, Parlophone. The split rumours follow on from the disappointing sales performance of her latest album ‘X’ and the three singles from it. Some posts are saying that the split is ‘as good as confirmed’, while others say the planned July 28 physical release of single ‘The One’ (with the new Freemasons remixes) in the UK will now not go ahead.
What this means for the Australian release of ‘The One’ is unclear, though given the track still hasn’t been sent to radio locally, we suggest there just may be an issue in getting ‘parts’ from the UK or that Warner Music Australia is waiting for the right time. If a physical single is not being released anywhere else in the world, •auspop• believes it would be imperative for Mushroom/Warner in Australia to press one not only for local sales, but for potential worldwide export. If the rumours of a Parlophone/Kylie split are proven true, whichever label she next signs with overseas, it’s virtually assured that Kylie will remain with Mushroom Records (Warner Music) in Australia – her home of the past 21 years.
