EUPHORIA : Love You Right
Right from the opening frames, we knew that this was going to be something special… Euphoria burst onto the Aussie pOp landscape in 1991 with this, their debut single ‘Love You Right’. The brainchild of producer Andrew Klippel, Euphoria released just five singles and one album ‘Total Euphoria’ before disbanding within two years. Stylistically, the clip borrowed from Kylie’s ‘Better The Devil You Know’ and like that track, this single hit the No.1 spot on the ARIA singles chart. In many ways, it takes us back to the heady days of the ‘E-Street’ generation, when cast members Toni Pearen and Melissa Tkautz (and who could forget Bruce Samazan or Brooke Mikey-Anderson) were also forging music careers to varying degrees of success. But it also became a shining beacon, one of the first examples of what Australia was capable of when it came to producing quality dance/pOp. And that the single is still heard on the radio and so fondly remembered 17 years on is true testament to a group that graced us with their presence for way too short a time.
