Time once again to turn our attention to the pOp movements in this week’s ARIA Charts; Part-time lesbian Katy Perry remains stuck in the number one position on the ARIA physical, digital and official singles charts with her mega-hit ‘I Kissed A Girl’. Strangely, her album ‘One Of The Boys’ which was officially released last weekend, is absent from the top 50 albums chart. Could all those US imports have hurt her local chart chances, even though the Australian version has an extra track to entice local buyers? Still on the singles chart, PCDs are at No.2, Metro Station moves up to No.3, Sam Sparro remains at No.4 and Lady Gaga races up to the No.10 position with her US club hit ‘Just Dance’. Rihanna’s ‘Disturbia’ moves up to No.22, again on downloads alone (she’s at No.17 on the digital chart) and Gabriella Cilmi’s second single ‘Don’t Wanna Go To Bed Now’ moves up just two places to No.29. On the album chart, Abba still reigns supreme, with the Mamma Mia soundtrack firmly implanted at No.1 with Abba Gold at No.4, More Abba Gold at No.40 and Abba’s No.1s at No.45. Jason Mraz’s gentle climb up the album charts continues with his album ‘We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things’ up to No.12.
* Katy Perry’s album release date was belated bumped to August 04. It will chart this Sunday night.
