Please please tell us that this abomination (left) is not the single cover for the American Idol runner up’s first ever single!? What a dog’s breakfast! It looks as though WE could’ve done it (and as you can tell by the little bits and pieces that make up this fine blog, our artistic range is indeed limited). Anyway, the video – here is David, sat at the end of the pier, playing a piano, making love to the camera. His other self then arrives at said location for a lovely picnic in the outdoors driving an environmentally responsible Toyota Prius, while a girl he’s clearly got the hots for arrives in a gas-guzzling Cherokee (we sense the relationship is already doomed to failure). What the video encapsulates is the summer at the lakehouse when you discover your first crush – it’s all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows (sorry Leslie Gore), but what the song encapsulates is the same formulaic boy-band-esque middle-of-the-road pOp that could’ve been served up by pretty much anyone. We know, however, that this is not David’s doing – he didn’t write it, after all. His debut album will hit US stores later this year.
