SINGLES: A promo tour by Lady Gaga (was it a promo tour? ‘Cause all we saw of it was her performances on Rove and Sunrise) wasn’t quite enough for her single ‘Just Dance’ to knock Pink off the top spot – ‘So What’ holds on to No.1 for a third successive week. Katy Perry edges ever further towards the top spot with second single ‘Hot ‘N’ Cold’ at No.6 this week. Jordin Sparks moves up six places to No.12 this week with her single ‘One Step At A Time’. There’ll be continued smiles all ’round at SonyBMG this week with Idol runner up and former Young Diva Jessica Mauboy debuting in the No.13 spot with her single ‘Running Back’ – all on downloads alone. T.I. and Lady Gaga fans have been spending on the digital sites in force too this week, with the US rapper debuting on the combines chart at No.25 with ‘Whatever You Like’ and Ms Gaga at No.26 with ‘Poker Face’. Short Stack’s ‘Shimmy A Go Go’ debuts at No.31, while Demi Lovato JUST scrapes into the top 50 at No.46 with ‘This Is Me’.
DIGITAL TRACKS: Digitally, Jason Mraz stays put in the top spot, but all the action is happening outside the see-sawing top ten… Jessica Mauboy rockets into the No.11 spot on the digital charts with her single ‘Running Back’ – the physical single still a couple of weeks away. Lady Gaga’s second single ‘Poker Face’ (also a couple of weeks away physically) debuts here at No.23. T.I. is in at No.26, Ricki Lee makes a belated debut in the digital charts, wiggling her way into the No.38 spot, while Demi Lovato is one spot lower at No.39.
PHYSICAL SINGLES: Years ago, Short Stack would’ve had a top ten hit on their hands with ‘Shimmy A Go Go’, but that was before digital downloads counted towards the chart position. Physically? No.7 debut. Combined? No.31 – they’re let down by the non-action over on the digital chart. The novelty of DJ Teddy Z is wearing off, with a big fall from No.4 to No.13 this week, while Rihanna’s ‘Disturbia’ single (containing just the single and the instrumental) debuts at a disappointing No.22. The Oasis boys are back in the charts – this time at a lowly No.24 physically – but nowhere to be seen on the official top 50 – proving there are some acts that will still sell physical singles over digital. Elsewhere, there are debuts for Nelly (No.29), The Presets (No.33) and Augie March (No.37).
ALBUMS: Kings Of Leon cement their place in the albums chart with a second week at number one with their album ‘Only By The Night’. Miami metal act Trivium make a splash at No.4 with fourth album, while Idol star Shannon Noll finds his audience warming to his ‘best of’ – it debuts at No.7. The Camp Rock soundtrack bullets 20 places up the albums chart this week to hover just outside the top ten at No.13. Cold War Kids and James Morrison debut at Nos.20 and 21 respectively, while Ben Folds makes another splash on the ARIA albums chart at No.25. End Of Fashion’s ‘Book Of Lies’ pOps in at No.26 and Dave Gilmour is in at No.30 with his live album.

Adem With An E says
Gaga did perform in Sydney and Melbourne; Melbourne show was INCREDIBLE. Plus, did you hear about her visit to Sanity in Victoria Gardens on Saturday afternoon? In full costume, with back-up dancers in tow, to purchase a copy of her own album.
Amazing.
