Any song that begins with a xylophone is alright in our books… Lisa Mitchell’s star has been steadily rising since the Albury local found fame through series four of Australian Idol. Although she finished in sixth place in the 2006 competition, her popularity since exiting Idol doesn’t seem to have waned – moreover it’s been growing in spades. Released independently in 2007, her first EP ‘Said One To The Other’ garnered chart success and industry accolades. Her second, ‘Welcome In The Afternoon’ was released in May this year. If that’s not enough, she’s now been picked up in her birth country Britain by heavyweight label RCA (part of the SonyBMG empire) and they’re about to release a slightly tweaked ‘Neopolitan Dreams’ as Lisa’s first ever UK single. The video’s as cute as a button, with Lisa wandering through a forest, bumping into everything bar a gingerbread house. Whilst in the forest, she takes time to have a little sleep, play a little guitar, do a little shopping and have a little dance, all while a Polaroid photo develops upon her chest. Lisa’s debut album ‘Paint It Gold’ is released locally on November 08.
