Let’s face it, the gang at Central Station know how to give pOp fans something more than just a couple of bonus tracks – and with the belated Aussie release of September’s self-titled hybrid album, they give good bonus in extra tracks and a bonus DVD with five videos. The album opens with the previously released up-tempo pOp single ‘Satellites’, before hitting it’s strides with the new single (and ARIA hit) ‘Cry For You’, but strangely, not in it’s UK remixed version. Next single ‘Can’t Get Over’ follows, a song about losing a love, before the flamenco-tinged track ‘Because I Love You’ and a song that wouldn’t sound out of place in the midst of a set by UK dance outfit Shapeshifters, ‘Looking For Love’. ‘Midnight Heartache’ borrows the riff from Bonnie Tyler’s ‘Bette Davis Eyes’, while it’s pan-flutes all ’round on Australian exclusive track ‘Follow Me’. It’s all very high-energy, fun, fluffy pOp here, with the tempo falling only twice – on ‘Flowers On The Grave’ and on the bonus track ‘Candlelight edit’ of ‘Cry For You’. As an album, it’s a bit the same all the way through, but as a package for fans or collectors, it’s a value for money gem.
September’s self-titled album in in the stores now, along with ARIA chart single ‘Cry For You’.
