Back at the end of the last financial year, we were wetting our panties at the excitement created by the appearance on the release schedule of a second edition of the best compilation of recorded music Australia has ever seen. We’ve got Young Talent Time albums on vinyl and everything, but this really took the cake. ‘FuturePOP’ was Roisin Murphy, it was Lily Allen, Ladytron and Moby. It had Robyn, Chromeo and Calvin, Yelle, M.I.A., Maps and Tiga and it rocked our pOp world. The announcement of ‘FuturePOP 2.0’, therefore, caused quite a stir in auspOp HQ when it was originally set down for a September 20 release. Well for one reason or another, poor Liam who created this startlingly brilliant compilation, saw his second baby in the series put on the backburner. BUT!!! It is with great pleasure that we report that this week’s EMI release schedule features the re-appearance of said title (cue wetness) and it’s now been set down for a January 24 release. So exciting is this news, that it’s been decreed that there shall be a public holiday in the CD’s honour just two days later. Result! And Liam… we can’t WAIT!
