The combination of harsh economic times and the even harder Australian music business has unfortunately claimed another scalp, with independent label Creative Vibes yesterday confirming that they too will wind up their operations early in the new year after 15 successful years in business. Their official press release said it all, “Sadly, as a truly independent company we just can’t compete with large companies and multinational companies supplying everything from music to computers to electrical items”.
Creative Vibes not only brought to Australia some of the finest music from around the world, but also nurtured local talent, including the incredible Katie Noonan, Gotye and auspOp favourites Duosseudo, garnering industry awards (AIRs and ARIAs and the Dance Music Awards) along the way.
And as with most smaller independent labels, the company was filled with enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated staff.
So as we did with Central Station Records not three days ago, we give a big shout out and bid fond goodbye to the entire Creative Vibes team, some of whom we’ve dealt with in a professional capacity. They will be sorely missed within the Australian recording industry and the wider Aussie music landscape.

Yeah this is very sad indeed. I hope everything works out honky dory for them.
