Back in September, we took a look at the extra-ordinary piece of pOp by a young Canadian artist by the name of ‘Lights’. We said then that it was some of the classiest pOp music of 2008 – and by gad, she’s gone and done it again with an equally spectacular second track called ‘February Air’, even though we’re smack bang in the middle of December. So ‘Lights’ finds herself smack-bang in the middle of a comic book, where the ‘purple planet’ (Cadbury’s ultimate dream, we assume) is in the grip of winter. In her temperature controlled spacecraft, hubby (the astronaut) leaves a message for her on the intergalactic space screen to remind her of all the things they’ve done together. On awakening, this message pleases ‘Lights’ very much. So much so she makes herself a silver paper plane, pops it in her tote and walks outside completely underdressed into the freezing cold. Spying a mountain in the distance, she proceeds to trek (underdressed) into a marshmallow blizzard up the mountain to where the blizzard clears enough so she can throw the paper plane off the top. YAY!
We’re thrilled to say that Lights’ EP is available on iTunes Australia – so go hunt her down and make, like we did, a most pleasant pOp discovery.
