Congratulations must go to Melbourne-based dance artist Dirty South, who’s been nominated in the world’s biggest dance music awards. In what seems like a desperately short space of time, the artist, Dragan Roganovic, has moved from independent local remixes to playing some of the biggest stages in the world, remixing some of the world’s biggest artists. No surprise then that the young dynamo has picked up three nominations in the International Dance Music Awards, to be held in Florida at the end of March. He picks up a nomination for the ‘Best Underground Dance Track’ for his latest single ‘Open Your Heart’, along with a nom for ‘Best Progressive House/Trance Track’ and also impresses with the nomination for ‘Best Remixer’. He’ll head to the US and Canada at the end of this month to play a series of gigs.
Other Aussies scoring nominations at this year’s awards are Melbourne outfit Cut Copy in the category of Best Breakthrough Artist and DJ Carl Cox, who spends half of his time in Australia these days, picks up a nomination in the ‘Best Global DJ’ category.
Congratulations to all and best of luck during the ceremony.
