The long-awaited return of Irish supergroup U2 was on in earnest just three weeks ago when their new single ‘Get On Your Boots’ debuted at a respectable No.26 on the ARIA singles chart. But alarmingly, the track fell to No.62 in just it’s second week on sale. Even more alarming to their record company no doubt would be the fact that this week, the track is down to No.99 on the ARIA singles chart, just two weeks out from the release of their brand new album ‘No Line On The Horizon’. It sold just 432 digital copies in the previous seven days and on it’s current trajectory, it looks set to be out of the top 100 next week. Let’s hope the physical single, which is now in-stores, can turn around the band’s fortunes on the singles charts before the release of their album on February 27. Every one of U2’s albums in the past 20 years has hit the top spot in Australia.
