SINGLES : US rapper Flo Rida continues his dominance of the Aussie singles chart for a fourth successive week with his Dead Or Alive-sampling hit ‘Right Round’ notching up a further 14,788 sales this week. Though not TOO far behind was rising country star Taylor Swift, her single ‘Love Story’ benefitting from the singer’s Aussie visit, bagging another 12,790 sales. Further down the list, Ladyhawke scores a belated top 20 hit with single ‘My Delirium’ moving into the No.20 position with 3115 sales, while Warner Music enjoys two debuts in the top 30 from Evermore (‘Hey Boys And Girls’ at No.26 – 2541 sales) and 3Oh!3 (‘Don’t Trust Me’ at No.27 – 2534 sales). Tracks in aid of bushfire relief show mixed results, with Andre Rieu’s ‘Yours Forever’ dropping from No.14 to No.40, while the version of ‘I Am Australian’ performed by Bruce Woodley and Carter & Carter at the remembrance ceremony moves up from No.126 to No.56 on the back of strong physical sales.
PHYSICAL SINGLES : This is where Taylor Swift is making the big impact in the charts – it seems that people are going into stores and buying her physical releases. This week, Taylor sells an impressive (for these days) 1991 physical copies of single ‘Love Story’ to top the chart from Dutch violinist Andre Rieu, who sold 1797 copies of his ‘Yours Forever’ physical single. As we mentioned, the ‘I Am Australian’ single from Bruce Woodley rises dramatically to No.56 on the singles chart, but here it’s up to No.5 with 802 physical copies sold. Also making moves are the Pussycat Dolls, with latest track ‘Bottle Pop’ in at No.13, selling 484 physical singles, while further down the list, there are debuts from Evermore (No.31), Panjo 5 (No.33), TI with Justin Timberlake (No.34) and Secondhand Serenade (No.47).
DIGITAL TRACKS : Digitally it’s all Flo Rida and his single is in the top spot after selling almost five thousand digital copies more than second placed Taylor Swift. The rest of the top ten is ALMOST unchanged, bar an entry from T.I. with Justin Timberlake at No.8 and The Lonely Island in at No.10 (4000 digital sales). Further down, debuts from Evermore (No.26 on 2344 digital sales), Pussycat Dolls (No.28 with 2281), Jessica Mauboy (No.39 with 1747) and Nickelback (No.40 with 1640).
ALBUMS : After selling a bee’s dick short of 30,000 copies of new album ‘No Line In The Horizon’ last week, Irish rockers U2 notch up a further 13,982 sales this week to take the tally of their latest album sold so far in Australia to 43,945 copies – not bad after just two weeks on sale. Kelly Clarkson wasn’t too far behind with her latest album ‘All I Ever Wanted’ – it debuts at a respectable No.2 on the back of 10,041 sales, bumping Lily Allen’s ‘It’s Not Me It’s You’ (9898 copies) down to No.3. 4400 copies would’ve got you a top ten placing this week on the albums chart – the Prodigy occupying No.10 with 4377 sales. Country crooner Adam Brand makes an appearance in the top 20 with his new album ‘Hell Of A Ride’ debuting at No.19 on the back of 2200 sales, while the Howling Bells also debut (at No.28 with 1379 sales).
