SINGLES : After amazing everyone last week with a No.1 debut, Flo Rida’s still ‘Right Round’ at No.1 on this week’s singles charts – and he sold over 3000 more copies of his single (all digitally) to get there, bagging 13,577 sales. Beyonce’s ‘Halo’ continues it’s ascendancy up the charts this week, up to No.5, a physical single selling almost one thousand copies to help her on her way. The Lonely Island makes an inroad to the top ten this week at No.10 with their single ‘Jizz In My Pants’ selling 5289 copies to march up an impressive 18 places, while Dutch violinist Andre Rieu debuts at No.16 with the single ‘Yours Forever’, sold specifically to raise funds for the bushfire relief effort. It sold 4147 copies in one week – and all of them were physical. Eminem moves up seven places to No.22, T-Pain moves up 14 places to No.26 with ‘Freeze’ and Britney’s lyrically challenging single ‘If You Seek Amy’ makes a move – up to No.32 (with 2394 sales).
PHYSICAL SINGLES : Physically this week (and as mentioned above), the top spot belongs to Andre Rieu, whose bushfire relief single ‘Yours Forever’ sold 4147 physical copies. It meant that Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ was bumped down to No.2 (1340 physicals copies), with Beyonce and new single ‘Halo’ debuting at No.3 (997 physical copies). The physical release of Empire Of The Sun’s ‘We Are The People’ bounced in at No.13 (selling 474 copies), while further down the order, there were debuts for Kings Of Leon (No.30), Jamie Foxx (No.41), Kram (No.45) and Hey Monday (No.50).
DIGITAL TRACKS : Digitally, it was all about Flo Rida with ‘Right Round’ – 13,577 digital copies of his single sold to keep him firmly on top here for the second week in a row. Taylor Swift followed at No.2 3063 copies behind. There were debuts too for T-Pain (No.29) and Eminem (No.31).
ALBUMS : A quieter week saleswise has seen So You Think You Can Dance host Natalie Bassingthwaighte debut in the No.1 position on the ARIA albums chart this week – a bee’s dick short of 9000 copies. Just 674 copies behind were The Prodigy, debuting in the No.3 position with a respectable 8293 copies sold. The repackaging of Duffy’s ‘Rockferry’ seems to have paid dividends, with the album making a big move into the top ten at No.6, while Wrath’s ‘Lamb Of God’ hits the top ten (No.8) with sales of 4390 copies. There’s a debut by The Cat Empire (No.17), another by David Hobson (No.30) and a re-emergence of the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack on the back of the film’s Oscars success.
