The countdown to the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest (a little over two months away) has begun, with some of the contestants to be featured in the semi finals on May 12 and 14 already releasing video clips to their Eurovision songs. So over the next two months, we thought we’d share in the excitement of Eurovision 2009 by featuring some of the songs you may just be seeing at the final in Moscow on May 16.
SPAIN : SORAYA ARNELAS – La Noche Es Para Mi (The Night Is For Me)
As one of the four countries already guaranteed a berth in this year’s final, Spain’s entry for Eurovision 2009 is 26 year old Soraya Arnelas and her song ‘La Noche Es Para Mi (The Night Is For Me)’. A contestant on Spanish reality show ‘Operación Triunfo’, she was signed to a record deal and released her debut album in 2005. Now signed with global giant Universal Music, Soraya’s last album ‘Sin Miedo’ was released in October. Here’s her Eurovision entry on behalf of Spain, ‘La Noche Es Para Mi (The Night Is For Me)’.
SBS will air the two Eurovision Semi Finals on May 15 and 16 respectively at 7:30pm. The Grand Final will be telecast on Sunday May 17 at 7:30pm.

The only thing I am unhappy about the Eurovision Song Contest is that the use of English, in the Contest increases year by year.
As a native English speaker I think this is unfair!
It’s certainly time to break the habit of “language imperialism”, in the Eurovision Song Contest, and use a song, sung in Esperanto instead!
This is a serious suggestion, as you can see from the Esperanto music which is already available at http://www.vinilkosmo.com/?prs=listen or at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8837438938991452670
There’s even cheesy Esperanto music available! See http://www.ipernity.com/home/56084
