Throughout the countdown to the 2009 festivities, auspOp is continuing it’s look at some of the acts you may well be seeing in the final at Moscow’s Indoor Olympic Arena. Some of these performers have already recorded video clips for their entries, whereas some will just tempt you with their live performances.
SWITZERLAND : LOVEBUGS – The Highest Heights
Hailing from Basel in Switzerland, five piece outfit Lovebugs have been releasing music since the early 1990s, signed originally to BMG and in later years to Warner Music. The band has enjoyed chart success on their home turf and will represent Switzerland in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with ‘The Highest Heights’ – lifted from their latest album of the same name.
The track itself sounds a little like the band/electro hybrid that Keane’s been experimenting with on their latest long-player – and it works rather well. Competent, polished pOp.

The only thing I am unhappy about, with the Eurovision Song Contest, is that the use of English, in the Contest, increases year by year. May I say, as a native English speaker, that this unfair.
The time has come to break this habit of “language imperialism”, in the Eurovision Song Contest, and use a song, sung in Esperanto instead!
This is a serious suggestion, as you can see from the Esperanto music which is already available at http://www.vinilkosmo.com/?prs=listen or at http://video.google.(…)-8837438938991452670
There’s even cheesy Esperanto music available! See http://www.ipernity.com/home/76977 as well as http://www.lernu.net
