The countdown to the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest (a little over two months away) has begun, with some of the contestants to be featured in the semi finals on May 12 and 14 even releasing video clips to their Eurovision entries. So over the next two months, we’re continuing to show our excitement of Eurovision 2009 by featuring some of the songs you may just be seeing at the final in Moscow on May 16.
UNITED KINGDOM : JADE EWEN – My Time
Britain’s entry for the 2009 Eurovision competition is 21 year old Jade Ewen, an accomplished star of stage and screen, who is set to release her debut album mid-way through the year. Jade also has an Australian connection – playing the part of Aggie on the Logie-winning 2003 ABC kids series ‘Out There’. Her Eurovision entry ‘My Time’ has been co-written by ballad goddess Diane Warren and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, the latter set to join Jade as pianist for her on stage performances in Moscow. So the UK is throwing everything at this year’s competition in the hope of securing more votes than they have in previous years. But as former commentator Terry Wogan suggests, if voting countries continue to vote in blocks, will it make any difference?
SBS will air the two Eurovision Semi Finals on May 15 and 16 respectively at 7:30pm. The Grand Final will be telecast on Sunday May 17 at 7:30pm.
