Hey! How ya doin’? Sorry you can’t get through… Why don’t you leave your name and your number… And we’ll get back to you. It was with their 1991 hit ‘Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey) that New York hip hop outfit De La Soul first found success on the Australian charts – it peaked at No.4. But whilst most of us would have assumed the band has been idle throughout the past 18 years, it couldn’t be further from the truth, with the band releasing a further five albums since their 1991 success ‘De La Soul Is Dead’. 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the group – and to celebrate the impressive milestone, they’ve announced an Australian tour, due to begin at the end of April on the west coast. Bringing with them a 10 piece band, the tour will take in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney before moving to New Zealand for Wellington, Auckland, Queenstown and Christchurch dates.
The tour will also co-incide with the release of a new EP in conjunction with sports giant Nike, which will feature six previously unreleased songs.
