It’s now just one month before the crowds flock to see all the glitz, the glamour and all the questionable fashions of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. We’re continuing our look at some of the entries that will be vying for this year’s coveted crown at Moscow’s Indoor Olympic Arena on May 14 and we’ll continue to do so in the countdown to this year’s competition. With video clips for some of the entries and live performances for the rest, introducing our next scintillating act.
MALTA : Chiara Siracusa – What If We
What we love about Eurovision is how it brings people from all backgrounds, all races, all religions together through a celebration of music – and Malta’s entry for this year’s competition is most certainly no exception – the singer’s Maltese, the songwriters are from Belgium and the song’s in English. This year marks the third time that 32 year old Chiara Siracusa has been selected as the Maltese entry, following unsuccessful attempts to win the competition in 1998 and 2005. She came close on both occasions, however, third in ’98 and second in ’05. If she continues on that trajectory, she’ll win this year’s competition with the touching ballad, ‘What If We’.
