It’s not been a particularly good 24 hours for pOp music over in the United Kingdom. First came word that just one year after signing a £1 million record deal, brother/sister duo Same Difference have been dropped by their record label ‘SyCo’. Their signing to SyCo came after their third place showing in the 2007 edition of Britain’s ‘X Factor’, but their album ‘Pop’ failed to live up to expectations and sounded rather dated. It’s anticipated that Sarah and Sean will push on with their UK tour plans.
Then just a few hours ago, news broke that boyband Avenue is set to split after releasing just one single – 2008’s ominously titled ‘Last Goodbye’. The boys, Ross, Max, Scott, Jonathan and Andrew who, like Same Difference, also appeared on X Factor, are expected to embark on solo careers. Their second planned single ‘Can You Feel It’ will now not be released.
