TEEN QUEENS : Be My Baby
It’s hard to believe that an Aussie girl group that performed updated cover versions of classic ’50s and ’60s hits would work on the Aussie charts, but back in 1992 and 1993, that’s precisely what happened. And before she made it big in kids super-group Hi-5, this is where you’d find a very young Kellie Hoggart. Almost 30 years after the Ronettes conquered the US charts with the single, the Teen Queens achieved similar success in Australia, with the song making it into the top ten on the ARIA singles chart. The clip? Well it’s pastel dresses at three paces. It’s ’50s diner (without Peter Griffin’s ‘Surfin Bird’), it’s outdated bikinis and it’s an explosive pillow-fight. It’s also clear that we’ve come a heck of a long way in 17 years of video making in Australia.

Is that Adam Garcia doing ‘the swim’ with Kellie during “Baby When We Break Up”? It certainly looks like him!
