Can you believe it!? It’s now less than a week before some of Europe’s finest hit the stages of Moscow’s Indoor Olympic Sports Arena for the semi finals of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. And as the days count slowly down, auspOp ramps up it’s coverage of the entries that will be vying for glory in this year’s competition, now with two posts each day, one each for the remaining countries we’ve yet to cover. The grand final from Moscow is to be screened on delayed telecast on Australia’s SBS on Sunday May 17.
CYPRUS : Christina Metaxa – Firefly
Clever siblings, those Metaxa children – their parents must be so proud. First their 20 year old son Nikolas goes and wins the Greek version of X Factor, then he goes and writes a song for his sister which she’s then asked to perform for her country at the Eurovision Song Contest! It’s a family most definitely going places. At just 17 years of age, Christina is one of the competition’s youngest performers and we can’t help but think that she too has a bright shiny future ahead of her.
