SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTOR : Me And My Imagination
As we patiently await a top ten UK chart debut for Sophie’s new single, the collaboration with UK pOp gods Freemasons ‘Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer’, we take a look back this week at her criminally overlooked single ‘Me And My Imagination’. Not only is the track totally pOptastic, but the clip (above) is bright, bubbly and decidedly fun. Appearing from an alleyway looking positively statuesque, Ms Ellis-Bextor parades her way glamorously along the footpath. But just as she’s about to deliver us the catchier-than-Swine Flu chorus, everything does dark to reveal a sparkling neon luminescence. There were the Vogue-esque dance moves, glow-in-the-dark umbrellas (Santa didn’t deliver that year) and a blatantly obvious nod to Sophie’s gay following via the rainbow. Bright, colourful, sparkly pOp!
