A new number one on the official album chart this week knocks off the Black Eyed Peas, but is the US band in danger of knocking itself off the pole position over on the singles chart?
SINGLES : The Black Eyed Peas reign again on the official Australian singles chart this week with their single ‘Boom Boom Pow’ notching up a seventh week on top. 12,241 copies of the first single from their ‘The E.N.D.’ set were sold last week to keep them at No.1. BUT, there’s a strong challenge to their No.1 mantle – and it’s coming from within the Black Eyed Peas camp. Second single ‘I Gotta Feeling’ has rocketed into the No.2 position after debuting last week at No.8. It sold 10,512 copies in the week. But the really big mover into the top ten has been Lady Gaga. Her latest single ‘Paparazzi’ isn’t even on physical single yet and is already making it’s charge towards the top, bulleting eleven places this week to sit at No.3 (8715 sales). Rob Thomas’s single ‘Her Diamonds’ seems to have run out of steam a bit, dropping down to No.8 after just four weeks in and Jessica Mauboy debuts at No.9 with her new single ‘Because’ (5277 copies – 800 of which were physical). The Pussycat Dolls have another top ten hit on their hands with the disco-fied ‘Hush Hush; Hush Hush’ hitting No.10 (up five places), while Eminem drops ten places from No.2 to No.12. Elsewhere, there are moves up from Taylor Swift (‘You Belong With Me’ No.18 to No.13 – 4937 sales), David Guetta ftg. Kelly Rowland (‘When Love Takes Over’ No.19 to No.15 – 4563 sales) and Linkin Park (‘New Divide’ No.29 to No.22 – 3120 sales). Further down the list, Jordin Sparks’ new single ‘Battlefield’ comes in at No.34 (2115 sales) and Hoobastank’s duet with Vanessa Amorosi sees them pOp in at No.44 (1573 copies). Just outside the top 50, there are debuts at No.51 for Wes Carr’s ‘Fearless’ (1271 sales), No.66 for Ironik’s ‘Tiny Dancer’ (1015 copies), No.76 for Bliss ‘N’ Eso’s ‘On Tour’ and No.78 for Nikki Webster’s comeback single ‘Devilicious’ (792 sales).
ALBUMS : The Hilltop Hoods have slammed their way into the No.1 position with their brand new album ‘State Of The Art’. The album outsold the No.2 artist (Black Eyed Peas) by more then two to one (27,455 copies as opposed to the Black Eyed Peas’ 11,803 copies). It’s an outstanding result with very solid sales. Lily Allen is back up a couple of positions (No.6 to No.4 this week with album ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ (7335 sales), while Lady Gaga’s ‘The Fame’ re-enters the top ten at number ten with 3636 sales. Katy Perry’s ‘One Of The Boys’ moves up ten places to No.12, while Incubus debut in the No.20 position with new album ‘Monuments And Melodies’ selling 2251 copies. Chickenfoot emerges at No.50 with their self-titled album (739 copies). Pink’s albums, meanwhile, continue to dominate the charts – with various titles and packages this week sitting at Nos.3, 8, 17, 22, 34, 44 and 56.

Could you tell me where Wes Carr’s album is, and do you have Jess Mauboy’s album sales for this week?
