Korean pop mistress BoA continues to give her career in the United States of America a red hot crack as you’ll see with this incredibly stylish video for her third US single ‘Energetic’. And she’s doing so with some of the most serious bling you ever did see. Bling on her fingers, bling on her wrists, bling in her ears, bling around her neck. And just in case all that bling wasn’t enough, she’s decided to bling up her face too! While the singer’s experienced some stateside success on the dance charts, she’s still to crack the mainstream market. And though her tracks are desperately danceable, the production slick, her videos incredibly polished and despite the fact she most certainly has the talent to succeed, we can’t help but think that an outsider selling R&B/pop to the US is a little like an outsider selling ice to the Eskimos.

I like BoA’s pop-y asian stuff but I’ve never liked her American stuff. Like you said, I find that it screams of “I WANT TO BE AMERICAN” way too much. Not a good thing. If she released some of her pop-y stuff like ‘Milky Way’ or ‘Brand New Beat’ or ‘My Boy’ in the US I’d love that but once again, stupid record company executives think the only thing that will sell are boring, overproduced, generic songs.
