MOTOWN’S FANTHOLOGY

Clever word, ‘Fanthology’, ’cause it conjures up images of an anthology that’s been voted on by the fans. And by the power of greyskull, it is! Although there’s no release date for this 45 track compilation in Australia just yet (it’s in US stores on September 01), we assume it’s only a matter of time before it pops it’s head up on the local schedule. As voted on by the fans, the two CD set brings together the most popular Motown anthems, with plenty from Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, the Four Tops, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles and the Jackson 5. And the tracklist is arranged in order of the votes themselves, with track No.1 (the Temptation’s ‘My Girl’) being the most popular among respondents. It’s followed by Marvin Gaye (twice in a row) with ‘What’s Going On’ and ‘Let’s Get It On’ respectively. But suffice to say, there are some incredible titles amongst the album’s playlist.
