When there’s smoke there’s usually fire and in this instance, it’s certainly turned out to be the case as Keisha Buchanan, founding member of British girl group Sugababes, has left the group effective immediately.
She reports on her OFFICIAL TWITTER that the decision to leave the band was not hers and that “Sometimes a break down in communication and lack of trust can result in many different things”.
Both Heidi and Amelle will continue in the band and will be joined by Britain’s 2009 Eurovision hope Jade Ewen to continue to promote the band’s forthcoming album ‘Sweet 7’. None of the band’s original members forms part of Sugababes 4.0.
The timing of Keisha’s announcement couldn’t have come at a worse time, with the band’s new album due to drop at retail in just eight weeks time. A new single, ‘About A Girl’ is already slated for release, but this announcement may throw those plans into disarray.
The big question now is, ‘can the Sugababes continue with no original members from the band?’
Keisha will continue as a solo artist with Island Records.
