* Plenty of new tracks being taken to Aussie radio today, including the new single from former Idol star Lisa Mitchell. ‘Clean White Love’ is the second single proper to be lifted from Lisa’s glorious album ‘Wonder’.
* Among other Aussies with their new singles at radio today are Warner Music’s The Galvatrons with new single ‘Laser Graffiti’ and Sony Music’s Cassie Davis, with her new track ‘No More’.
* Overseas artists seeing their new singles to Aussie radio this morning include the Foo Fighters (‘Wheels’), Mika (‘Rain’), Pixie Lott (‘Boys And Girls’) and Kid Cudi ftg. MGMT (‘The Pursuit Of Happiness’).
* Speaking of Mika, we’re wondering that given he’ll be in the city two days prior, will he be another special guest performer at this year’s ARIA Awards in Sydney?
* Internationally renowned dance institution Pacha will spice up New Years Eve proceedings in Sydney this year. The Pacha franchise is found in more than 25 clubs worldwide and will hit Sydney’s Ivy nightclub on new years eve with an abundance of DJs set to “burst your cherry”. The first DJ line-up is set to be revealed this Thursday.
* Pop queen Madonna is doing much better over in the UK than she is here in Australia – her new best-of ‘Celebration’ has screamed into the No.1 spot on this week’s UK albums chart, equalling Elvis’s record of the most UK No.1 albums, while the single of the same name drops to No.8 on the UK singles chart. Madonna’s single ‘Celebration’ sits at No.80 on the Aussie chart this week.
* In Twitter news, David Campbell’s been asked to appear on this week’s Hey Hey It’s Saturday reunion show, Renee Cassar’s asking for your HOT30 votes and Ladyhawke’s been seeing elephants. Lots of elephants.
* Plenty of music related TV viewing coming up too. Madonna hits Letterman again this Thursday night on Channel 10, Harry Connick Jr’s set for an Idol appearance on October 11, the much talked about Oprah interview with Whitney Houston is set to air in two parts (on Monday October 12 and Tuesday October 13) also on Network 10 and over on Pay TV, the Biography channel will screen the 2007 UK TV special ‘Divas 1’ (featuring the likes of Girls Aloud, Chaka Khan, Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez) on October 17 at 7:30pm, with a second special screening the week after.
* And independent label Brumby Music has lifted the lid on the scintillating new Hotel Costes album, Volume 12 (pictured below). The latest disc in the series is once again guided by the smooth hands of Stephane Pompougnac and is in-store now. And all we can say is that we likey very very very much.

Maybe the reason behind Madonna’s less than stellar performance on the Aussie charts recently is because Australia is sick to death of Madonna’s constant empty promises of an Aussie tour and then renegging on those promises.

#4 UK single | #10 ARIA single
Global pop phenomenon MIKA has just unleashed his second album ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’.
‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’ album follows up his debut, ‘Life in Cartoon Motion’ which has sold nearly 6 million copies around the world and gone 5 x platinum in the UK for sales of over 1.5 million, as well as winning him BRIT, Ivor Novello and MTV Awards.
Following the supernova musical rush of his first single “We Are Golden”, Mika’s new single “Rain”, featuring droplets of violin plucks from Owen Pallett – is a bona fide dancefloor anthem, Mika’s stunning voice floating effortlessly over pillows of synths.
‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’ was written by Mika and co-produced by himself and Greg Wells. ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’ was recorded between London and Los Angeles over the last two years, and other guests include The Seawind Horns (Thriller, Off The Wall), Imogen Heap and Owen Pallet from Final Fantasy/Arcade Fire.
Fizzing with influences from big pop albums of the 80’s and 90’s through to Kurt Weill, 50’s singer Patti Page and 70’s singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson, Mika describes the record as more grown up than it’s precedessor. “‘Life in Cartoon Motion’ contained a lot of childhood references. The new album is more adolescent. I thought ‘where do I go back to? Before all this happened, what made me start writing songs?’ I loved that feeling of being 17/18 years old and I wanted to return to that period”. The album is bristling with teenage possibilities and OMM describe is as ‘bursting with melodies and sounding dazzlingly carefree’.
From stirring ballads to candy-coated choruses, the new album retains a breadth of vision that speaks not only to Mika’s extraordinary melodic sensibilities, but also to the incredible stories he tells within his songs.
