* Channel 9 will broadcast a one hour highlights package of the iconic ‘Sound Relief’ concerts this Sunday, September 27 at 1pm. The simultaneous concerts, organised to raise funds for survivors of the devastating Queensland floods and Victorian bushfires, were held in March in both Sydney and Melbourne and featured some of Australia’s and indeed the world’s biggest artists. The concerts will be released on DVD on October 09.
* Rapper Phrase has announced some special guests for two of his forthcoming shows. His Annandale Hotel show in Sydney on October 01 will be enhanced by Jade Macrae, Wendy Matthews and Kram, while at his October 30 gig at Melbourne’s Prince Of Wales hotel, he’ll be joined by Harry Angus from Jackson Jackson, new Obese Records signing Illy, Jade Macrae and Kram.
* We don’t know which radio will choose, but Universal Music and EMI have both taken out Snow Patrol tracks to radio in Australia this week – Universal (the band’s record company) have taken out ‘Just Say Yes’ from the band’s retrospective set and EMI have taken out ‘New Sensation’ – the band’s cover of the INXS classic, lifted from the new Late Night Tales compilation. Cheeky.* Also taken to local radio this week are the new single from Flo Rida ‘Be On You’ (pictured), the new 50 Cent track ‘Baby By Me’, the new OneRepublic track ‘All The Right Moves’ and the new Foo Fighters track ‘Wheels’.
* Aussie country artist Lee Kernaghan has also had his new single ‘Planet Country’ taken for radio adds this week. It’s the first single to be lifted from his forthcoming album of the same name. The album’s out November 06.
* Dannielle Gaha has returned to Aussie shores not only to support John Farnham on his national tour, but also to perform a series of live solo shows. Three concerts have been announced so far, the first of which takes place at the Troubadour in Brisbane this Sunday night. She plays Melbourne at the end of October and The Vanguard in Sydney in November, with Adelaide and Perth dates still to be finalised. Check out all the details on her OFFICIAL MYSPACE.
* Michael Paynter will play the support role for Seal’s forthcoming Aussie concert tour, if his announcement on his TWITTER PAGE is anything to go by.
* And in other sweet Tweets, The Potbelleez are back in the studio working on album #2, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s been murdering the dancefloor in a Russian karaoke bar, Miley Cyrus seems to have been hounded by the ‘paparatzi’ (which she found ‘disguisting’) and the boys from JLS have revealed the cover image to their new single (we’ve posted it below for you).
