* New Modular Records signing Jonathan Boulet is on the cusp of releasing his self-titled debut album (it’s due in the shops in early December), and he’s ready to launch it at a party in Sydney. Fans can catch the rising star at The Civic Hotel in Pitt Street from 8pm on Thursday December 03.
* Also launching in Sydney (tonight, as it so happens) is the latest compilation in the Bang Gang DJs series. And strangely enough, it’s also at the Civic Hotel in Pitt Street, with doors open from 10pm.
* Sony Music has just revealed via their latest release schedule that the Beyonce live album/DVD, ‘I Am Yours… An Intimate Performance At Wynn Las Vegas’ will be given a local release – and soon. A CD and DVD version of the live album is set to hit Australian retail on November 20.
* Sony has also revealed that they’ll be releasing the Australian Idol winner’s new album on December 04. But strangely, the release date suggests we’ll see ‘Australian Idol Winner #1’ and ‘Australian Idol Winner #2’ albums released on the same day.
The 2009 Australian Idol finale hits Channel 10 on Sunday November 22.
* ABC2 will this Sunday air a Pet Shop Boys TV special – Pet Shop Boys Live At The BBC. The special, filmed in March this year, looks back at 17 incredible Pet Shop Boys performances at the BBC, beginning in 1985 with their Top Of The Pops performance of ‘West End Girls’. Catch the show on ABC2 at 4:55pm this Sunday, November 15.
* The UK’s Digital Spy website is reporting a comeback for ’90s music trio Cleopatra. The band had a series of chart successes in the late ’90s and are reportedly hard at work on a new album due for release in 2010.
* And the Dukes Of Windsor are about to set off on a German adventure that will see them release their album over there. But they’ll also be taking the time to work on their next album, which the boys hope will see the light of day somewhere through 2010.

Totally correct Shane and MG,
Understand totally that that’s what it’ll be about – but the release shows up in Sony’s albums list, not in the singles list.
Perhaps a ‘winners journey’ album?

I was going to say exactly what Shane said – theyd be getting the framework in place to release both singles, the artwork would be sitting there waiting to be dropped onto templates and production will probably begin Monday morning after the winners announced.

Re – Idol they are winners singles and Sony have to have everything in place, such as cat numbers barcodes etc so that their distro arm can have it in the system etc etc etc – Same happened last year and Lukes release was pulled ( obviously )
