* Greg and Inara from LA outfit The Bird And The Bee have used their Facebook page to break the cover for their forthcoming tribute album. The duo will pay homage to legendary performers Hall & Oates on their new disc ‘Interpreting The Masters’. It’s in the shops on March 19.
* Michael Coppel has announced an Adelaide show for crooner Harry Connick Jr. The singer will play in the South Australian capital on Saturday March 20 at the city’s Her Majesty’s Theatre, with tickets available from Monday. His March 22 date at the Sydney Opera House has sold out, while tickets are still on sale for the remaining national dates.
* We may have only posted about it earlier today, but Ministry Of Sound has changed the release date on their forthcoming 3CD set ‘Electronic 80s’. The sensational compile will now hit the shops on March 26.
* In a further sign of diminishing CD singles sales, ARIA has today reported that this week marks the first time in chart history that all top five singles are digital only releases. Only one track in this week’s top ten singles chart (Ke$ha’s ‘Tik Tok’) comes in a physical format.
* 21 year old Zac Cranko has been named as the winner of the 2010 Max Tropscore competition. The Sydney-sider beat out more than 180 other entries to win the coveted prize for his score entitled ‘1M1’.* The Black Eyed Peas’ track ‘Imma Be’ curiously flew into the top 100 on last week’s singles chart at No.75, well ahead of it’s official media service, but it’s gone this week. Universal Music has taken the track to radio today.
* Also at radio today is Kevin Rudolf’s new track ‘I Made It’, the title track from Muse’s latest album ‘Resistance’, Denzal Park’s kicking new single ‘Filter Freak’ and Delphic’s ‘Halcyon’.
* Cobra Starship has been forced to change the venue for their upcoming concert in Perth. Originally slated to play Metro City on Sunday March 21, the band will now take to the stage at The Astor Theatre. The band’s two Melbourne shows have now sold out.
* A little birdy tells us that it won’t be long before a certain popstar with a surname that sounds like a fossil fuel but not spelled the same way will be touching down on Australian soil for a promo tour. Ooo-er!
* The story has been building beautifully for Gin Wigmore’s new single ‘Hey Ho’ across the Tasman, and Universal Music is hoping to replicate it’s radio success here in Australia, sending the track to radio locally today. It’s the third single to be lifted from her latest album ‘Holy Smoke’.* We’ve mentioned US duo Sam & Ruby a couple of times on the site before, but the twosome is now readying the release of a brand new EP. Entitled ‘Press On’ (pictured above), the six tracker is due for release in the US later this week.
* Paul Dempsey has announced a completely different kind of release for his new digital single ‘Bats’. The b-sides won’t be performed by him, but they will be his songs. Clare Bowditch sings Paul’s track ‘Out Of The Airlock’ and Oh Mercy perform ‘Ramona Was A Waitress’. The digital single drops this Friday.
* On the UK singles chart, Simon Cowell’s celebrity-laden version of ‘Everybody Hurts’ is cemented in the No.1 position for the second week in a row. Florence & The Machine’s Brit Awards collaboration with Dizzee Rascal ‘You’ve Got The Dirtee Love’ has debuted at No.2, while Lemar’s new single ‘That’s The Way Love Goes’ debuts at No.8.
* And on the British album chart, it’s Glee! The musical TV show has belatedly infatuated Britons, with the show’s soundtrack coming straight in at No.1. Owl City’s album ‘Ocean Eyes’ also debuts a little behind the rest of the world – coming in at No.7
