* Universal Music has announced the local release for the soundtrack for forthcoming superhero movie ‘Kick Ass’. The film, produced by Brad Pitt and directed by Matthew Vaughn, is an adaptation of the comic book of the same name. The lead single from the soundtrack is the title track, performed by Mika vs RedOne. The soundtrack is out Friday April 02, the movie hits cinemas on Thursday April 08.
* Has Mariah Carey’s ‘Angels Advocate’ album been shelved? That’s the rumour on the net at the moment and it’s a rumour that won’t be silenced by the news that the album has also disappeared from the Australian release schedule this week.
* Melbourne based Soulmate Records has signed a licensing deal with EMI. Soulmate has a number of projects in the pipeline, including a new album for Melbourne artist 360, responsible for co-penning ‘The Festival Song’ for Pez back in 2008.
* Creamfields has finally announced a venue for it’s Perth appearance on May 02. The dance festival will touch down in the Robinson and Jim Webster Pavillions at the city’s Claremont Showground – all subject to council approval.
* Inertia has revealed a local release date for the new UNKLE album ‘Where Did The Night Fall’. The album, the duo’s fifth will hit Australian retail on Friday May 07.* The lads from British outfit Keane have revealed the cover image for their forthcoming EP ‘Night Train’. Universal Music will release the disc locally – it’s currently slotted in for a May 14 instore date.
* On the UK albums chart, a series of debuts in the top ten this week, with Irish crooners Boyzone beating out the Gorillaz new album to make the No.1 debut. Amy MacDonald placed at No.4 with her new album ‘A Curious Thing’, while the Andrew Lloyd Webber soundtrack to ‘Love Never Dies’ – the Phantom Of The Opera sequel – debuts at No.10.
* On the British singles chart this week, Tinie Tempah has continued his dominance of the No.1 position, with Rihanna holding steady at No.2. The week’s highest debut came from US teen star Justin Bieber with his single ‘Baby’ debuting at No.3.
Other top ten debuts come courtesy of McLean (at No.10) and our own Gabriella Cilmi with ‘On A Mission’ at No.9.
