Could it possibly be almost that time again? The countdown is officially on to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in the Norwegian capital Oslo in late May. And though not all the countries’ entries have been decided just yet, things are most certainly beginning to take shape.
The first semi-final is set down for Tuesday May 25 and will include performances from (among others) Belgium, Iceland, Serbia, Greece, Russia, FYR Macedonia and Finland.
The second semi, featuring performances from the likes of Switzerland, Israel, Sweden, Turkey, Ireland and Lithuania, is set down for Thursday May 27.
From the two semi finals, just 20 acts will advance – and they’ll join automatic entrants France, Germany, United Kingdom, Spain and Norway to make up the 25 performers who’ll take to the stage at Oslo’s Telenor Arena for the massive grand final on Saturday May 29.
As with every Eurovision Song Contest, there promises to be glitz, glamour, high kitsch, dancing girls, dancing boys, key changes, fireworks, costume changes and the correspondents flirting outrageously with the hosts.
SBS will again telecast all three shows throughout Australia – the first semi final on Friday May 28 at 7:30pm, the second semi final on Saturday May 29 at 7:30pm and the grand final on Sunday May 30 at 7:30pm.
