* Aussie fans of Sia Furler won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the singer’s brand new single ‘Clap Your Hands’ (pictured). Her local record label Inertia has announced that the song will be released through iTunes on Friday April 23.
* Aussie rockers Jet are returning home for a promotional tour. Fresh from being announced as support for all but three shows on Powderfinger’s farewell tour of the country, the Jet boys have confirmed they’ll arrive for four days of promotional duties from this Tuesday.
* Lady Gaga wrapped up her Australian concert tour in Melbourne last night, but she’s not just loved here in Australia. US publicists have confirmed this week that Lady Gaga has shattered two global records. She’s become the first ‘franchise’ to rack up more than one billion views on YouTube AND has become the first artist of the digital era to clock up five million sales for her first two singles.* Know a band that you think should be signed to a record company, but scared that they’ll get swallowed up by the industry? * Warner Music has announced a brand new album for Florida-based punk outfit Against Me! The band’s new album is called ‘White Crosses’ and is currently slated for release in Australia on June 04. A digital EP – ‘I Was A Teenage Anarchist’ – will precede the new album on April 23.
* TV Tonight reports that brand new episodes of Glee are finally on their way. Channel 10 will kick things off with episode 14 (‘Hell-O’) of series one on Thursday April 29.
* Speaking of TV, auspOp fave Dannii Minogue will hit our screens from this Tuesday night in the 2010 series of Australia’s Got Talent. Catch it’s premiere on the 7 Network from 7:30pm.* Sony Music has announced that the forthcoming Oasis best-of ‘Time Flies : 1994-2009’ (pictured) will be released in Australia on Friday June 11. The new release (featuring 26 Oasis classics) will come in standard and deluxe editions, the latter including a DVD which will contain all the band’s videos – the first time they’ve been released.
* Opera star Renee Fleming will release her brand new album ‘Dark Hope’ in Australia on May 21. The new LP is a covers set and sees the singer taking on tracks by Muse, Jefferson Airplane, The Mars Volta, Tears For Fears, Duffy and even Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’.
* Sony Music signing Amy Meredith have been belatedly announced as the support act for Stereophonics’ Aussie tour, kicking off tonight at the Fremantle Arts Centre in Western Australia. They’ll appear at all six Stereophonics shows.
* The physical release for Rogue Traders’ new single ‘Would You Raise Your Hands’ has been delayed yet again. It’ll now hit stores on April 30. The new album ‘Night Of The Living Drums’ has temporarily disappeared from the schedule.
* The most played song in the country this week is once again Train’s massive No.1 ‘Hey, Soul Sister’. Adam Lambert bullets into the top ten at No.8, while the highest placed Aussie artist is Guy Sebastian in position 13 with his single ‘All To Myself’.* EMI has revealed a forthcoming remix album for Moby. ‘Wait For Me Remixes’ is reportedly a two disc release, featuring remixes of tracks from his latest studio album ‘Wait For Me’. It hits stores in Australia on May 14.
* Bluejuice has been added to the line-up for Record Store Day next Saturday. They’ll head in-store to meet public at Wills Music in Launceston, Tasmania from 1pm. Click the ‘Record Store Day’ link in the sidebar for more.
* On the Billboard singles chart, Rihanna continues her dominance, with another week on top for her single ‘Rude Boy’. In fact, with the exception of Jason Derulo, who pops into the top ten at No.9 with ‘In My Head’ (knocking Young Money down to No.10), the top ten positions are unchanged.
* And on the US album chart, Usher debuts in the No.1 position with his new album ‘Raymond V Raymond’ – a result achieved with the help of plenty of press, radio interviews and TV show appearances. Erykah Badu debuts in the No.4 position with her long-overdue new album ‘New Amerykah Part II’.
