They’re not usually our cup of pop, but there’s no denying the impact that Powderfinger has had on the Australian music scene over the past 21 years (especially the last 14).
But in a statement read to the press in Sydney earlier today, the band revealed that they’re calling it quits, announcing their final ever tour, “With the completion of our last album, Golden Rule, we feel that we have said all that we want to say as a musical group. We firmly believe that it is our most complete and satisfying album and can’t think of a better way to farewell our fans than with music that we all believe in and also with, hopefully, our best tour to date.”

Universal Music responded quickly to the announcement, sending the band’s track ‘Sail The Wildest Stretch’ to radio.
So from the first of September to late October, the band will undertake a comprehensive tour of the country, touching down in every state and territory to say one last goodbye to their fans. Tickets for all shows are on sale on Friday April 30.
