The gang at Universal Music is readying this rather fab new one disc compile for release later this month. ‘Just The Hits’ contains 21 tracks that have spent time in the ARIA charts over the past few months (many of them have spent time in the top five) and all of them are from Universal’s own ever-expanding catalogue.
The tracklisting features the likes of Justin Bieber, Cascada, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Owl City, Vanessa Amorosi, La Roux and even Florence & The Machine. Plenty to get your pop chops around. Look for it in the shops on Friday May 28.

Universal are still participating in So Fresh and that series gets first crack at the chart hits, all of these have been on at least one other comp so far. It’s out to try to increase their market share as their artist album releases have been under-performing year to date.

Yeah, now that I can see the track list, I highly doubt that this will be much of a threat to So Fresh at all. Those songs are actually pretty old now. Most of them were popular from the second half and onwards of last year anyway. It is kind of pointless really. Everyone would of purchased them individually by now. What a shame it couldn’t feature more recent track listing.

Chaos.com shop have a tracklisting…
Majority of the songs have appeared on the last 4 SoFresh albums, so not a competitor. Not sure why they even bothered.

Ian & Brad,
We were wondering the same thing ourselves about how it will impact on the ‘So Fresh’ compiles…
(So Fresh is a Universal/Sony product.
NOW is a Warner/EMI product.)

Is this going to effect Universal’s participation in the So Fresh compilations?
Brad says
Will this be the new competitor against So Fresh and NOW? Because I know So Fresh is by Sony and NOW is by either Warner or EMI (not sure), and this is Universal.. However I have noticed that So Fresh do tend to feature some non-Sony songs from Universal on their releases. I wonder what this situation will cause now that Universal have their own compilation. Will they most likely remove Sony’s rights to some of their tracks now? Interesting.
