* We don’t quite know what happened with the whole ‘premiere on The Hot Hits and Take40.com tomorrow morning’ thing, but Universal Music has today serviced Miley Cyrus’ new single ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ to local radio. It’s the first single to be lifted from her forthcoming album of the same name and was co-written by Tim James and Antonina Armato, who also co-penned Miley’s previous hit ‘See You Again’.
* The new Eminem track ‘Not Afraid’ has also been taken to radio – in both clean and dirty versions. It’s the first single to be lifted from his forthcoming new album ‘Recovery’.
* Susan Boyle has another feather in her cap this weekend, with her album ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ being named the biggest selling album globally for 2009, even though it was only available for the last five weeks of the year. It’s said to have shifted more than eight million copies throughout the world.
* After wowing audiences on this week’s Hey Hey It’s Saturday, crooner David Campbell will hit TV screens again tomorrow morning, appearing on Channel 7’s Weekend Sunrise. He’ll perform ‘Hello, Dolly’ from his latest album ‘On Broadway’ just before 10am.* Deborah Conway and her partner Willy Zygier have announced the seven date ‘Half Man Half Woman’ tour, taking in three dates in Victoria, three in New South Wales and one in Adelaide. The tour is in support of their new album of the same name, due out this month. Details on dates HERE.
* Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has announced a solo album. ‘Flamingo’ is the name of the new LP, but no word yet on a local release.
* It would appear that Christina Aguilera’s new single ‘Not Myself Tonight’ has stalled on the charts – still not debuting on the ARIA singles chart and placing outside of the top 30 on iTunes locally. In the US, the track dropped from No.23 (on debut) to No.49 in its second week.
* Speaking of the US charts, B.o.B’s single ‘Nothing On You’ has remained steady atop the Billboard Hot 100 this week, while his follow-up single ‘Airplanes’ also launches its bid for the top, heading into the top ten at No.9.
* And albums-wise, the Glee ‘The Power Of Madonna’ EP sold 98,000 copies in its first week to debut at No.1 on the Billboard albums chart. AC/DC’s ‘Iron Man 2’ soundtrack came in at No.4, with Jimmy Buffet’s ‘Encores’ in at No.7.

Hey fishpOp,
No, no ‘Airplanes’ just yet. It should appear over the weekend, however.

That would have been great; NMT is one of her best songs ever. Thanks for those stats. Do you know how many copies B.o.B ft Hayley Williams ‘Airplanes’ sold on the Digital chart last week, if it was on?
Brad says
I actually didn’t know at first that the record labels operating in Australia had to give ARIA permission to let songs chart. I thought it was like the UK, how any song can chart based on sales regardless of its format/whether it is actually a single or not. That explains why I can never find album tracks which are high up on iTunes Australia in the official ARIA Singles Chart.

Hey fishpOp @ Flop Of The Pops,
The track was No.20 on the digital chart with 4372 sales. If those figures were taken over to the ARIA singles chart proper last weekend, she’d have debuted at No.22.

It really sucks that Xtina isnt being allowed to chart on ARIA, by the time they let it it will get a run of 50-67-99-OUT.

Very Excited about the Brandon Flowers album!
Flop Of The Pops says
with christina’s new single, the record label isnt letting is chart, because the digital chart is a very close representation of the main singles chart so it should definitely be on there, there is no question about that.
