* Aussie hip hop outfit Bliss N Eso (pictured here in Los Angeles) have revealed that their brand new album is just about complete and will be ripe for release in late July. ‘Running On Air’ is the name of the band’s fourth LP, with the new single ‘Down By The River’ serviced to radio on Monday.
* Speaking of hip hop, US artist Shwayze has announced an Australian tour. He’ll touch down next month and visit Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, with Cisco in tour. Tickets are on sale this Thursday.
* French DJ Dimitri From Paris will see his latest compilation album ‘Get Down With The Philly Sound’ released in Australia via Inertia on June 25. The new set features two disc full of classic ’70s disco hits including new reworkings of tracks like ‘The Love I Lost’.
* Not so much pop, but Metallica have fully sold out their Australian tour. The tickets went on sale first thing on Thursday morning and within a couple of hours, all 13 shows (some 215,000 tickets) had completely sold out .
* The lads from Tame Impala are heading instore this weekend to meet their adoring public. You can catch them at HUM Records on Oxford Street in Sydney tomorrow at midday, and next Saturday (May 22) they’ll be in Melbourne at JB Hifi’s Bourke Street store (also from midday).
* EMI has revealed that they’ll be releasing the new Tinie Tempah album in August. The new LP features the current Aussie single (and former UK No.1) ‘Pass Out’, along with the follow-up ‘Frisky’.
* The most played song on Australian radio this week is ‘Alejandro’ by Lady Gaga. It replaces Train’s ‘Hey, Soul Sister’. Vanessa Amorosi’s ‘Mr.Mysterious’ moves up into the No.10 position.
* Speaking of Vanessa, she’s revealed to her fans that ‘Mr.Mysterious’ has now been classified gold, for sales of more than 35,000 copies.
* In the US, Eminem has debuted at No.1 on the Billboard singles chart with his brand new single ‘Not Afraid’. It’s only the 16th single in history to debut in the US top spot. 3OH!3 ftg. Ke$ha also had a pretty decent week, coming in at No.9.
* And finally on the US Billboard album chart, Godsmack’s album ‘The Oracle’ has debuted at No.1. There were five other top ten debuts though – MercyMe at No.3, James Taylor & Carole King at No.4, Deftones at No.6, Court Yard Hounds at No.7 and Toni Braxton at No.9.
