• Plenty of great pop at Australian radio this week, including the blisteringly amazing new single from Manchester duo Hurts. ‘Wonderful Life’ (pictured) is the second single lifted from the band’s forthcoming album ‘Happiness’, due for release in Australia on September 10.
• As mentioned last week, Warner Music yesterday morning serviced the new Kylie single ‘Get Outta My Way’, along with Phil Collins’ ‘(Love Is Like A) Heatwave’ and EMI took out Jet’s new single ‘La Di Da’ and former The Calling frontman Alex Max’s new single ‘Tonight’.
• And as mentioned on Sunday night, Universal Music has sampled the new Cheryl Cole track ‘Parachute’ to Aussie radio along with Kid Cudi’s ‘Erase Me’ (with Kanye West) and Dan Balan’s ‘Chica Bomb’.
• Sony has also serviced the new Hayley Warner track ‘Hands Off’ along with the new Band Of Horses single ‘Compliments’, a remix of Wiley’s ‘Electric Boogaloo’ and Scouting For Girls’ new tune ‘Famous’.
• Speaking of Scouting For Girls, they’re on Channel 7’s Sunrise later this morning (at 6:15am and 8:25am) for a natter with Molly Meldrum. Sunrise will also feature the band’s video for new single ‘Famous’.
• Looks like the boys from Short Stack are readying their new material, with a physical single of a track called ‘Planets’ appearing on this week’s Universal Music release schedule. It’s currently slotted in for a September 24 release.
• Organisers of the 2010 Splendour In The Grass festival, held over the weekend, are thrilled with the 2010 event. Despite some to-be-expected traffic snarls, the 32,000 strong crowd seemingly loved it, with plenty of positive feedback. “We were blessed with great sunshine filled weather, a great vibe and spectacular performances making it one cracking weekend!” said organisers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco.
• UK songstress Ellie Goulding, who brought us the very sparkly pop number ‘Starry Eyed’ earlier this year, will release her ‘iTunes Live’ EP digitally in Australia on August 27.
• The new Brian McFadden single is on the way – it’s the duet with his girlfriend Delta Goodrem ‘Mistakes’, with the digital single and video slated for a September 17 release.
• Shock Records has teamed up with manufacturing and distribution company Regency Media to form Australia’s largest independent entertainment conglomerate. Both companies will continue to operate under their existing names.
• Seems like Australia is officially in love with American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert. After the success of his first Aussie single ‘Whataya Want From Me’ (which is fast approaching double platinum sales), comes news this week that his new single ‘If I Had You’ has been certified GOLD for sales of 35,000 copies or more.
• And in the UK, new British boyband Wanted has debuted in the top spot on the singles chart with their debut single ‘All Time Low’. It displaces our own Yolanda Be Cool vs DCup into the No.2 spot, with Travie McCoy’s ‘Billionaire’ debuting at 3. New at No.5 is Flo Rida’s ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’, with Swedish House Mafia in at No.7 and Magnetic Man in at No.10.
• And while many were predicting Sir Tom Jones to hit the top of the albums chart with his new LP ‘Praise And Blame’, rapper Eminem has held him off, with the Welsh crooner managing a No.2 debut. Avenged Sevenfold debuts at No.5 with new LP ‘Nightmare’.

Ooh! – Exciting stuff :) – Not the Brian McFadden single I would have picked (Not Now :P) – but I love Cheryl’s track! :P

Hey Anonymous,
Sadly we don’t have confirmed digital release dates for any of the tracks you’ve asked about. Sara Bareilles was on the release schedule but has now disappeared, Hurts went to radio this week, so it shouldn’t be long (perhaps at the end of the week), so too The Script.
Alesha Dixon hasn’t even appeared on the Aussie radar yet.

Hi Auspop. Just a few questions. When are the following songs being digitally released? Hurts ‘Wonderful Life’, Kid Cudi ‘Erase Me’, Sara Bareilles ‘King Of Anything’, Natalia Kills ‘Mirrors’, Afrojack/Eva Simons ‘Take Over Control’, Jay Sean ‘2012’, Alesha Dixon ‘Drummer Boy’ and The Script ‘For The First Time’. Phew! Thanks in advance…
