• A big week locally for Melbourne’s Nervo girls, with their debut single for EMI ‘Irresistible’ being serviced to Australian radio. The tune is the first from the girls’ forthcoming debut album and features Ollie James on vocal.
• Also at radio from the various majors this week are the new N.E.R.D. track with Daft Punk called ‘Hypnotize U’, John Groban’s new single ‘Hidden Away’, Billy Thorpe’s ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’, the new track from Ed Kowalczyk called ‘Stand’ and Lil’ Wayne’s new single ‘Right Above It’.
• Central Station has taken out two new tunes – the Kylian Mash track featuring Akon called ‘Club Certified’ (video clip coming later today) and Edward Maya’s brand new single called ‘This Is My Life’.
• The new Susan Boyle single will hit local radio tonight. Entitled ‘Perfect Day’, it’s the first single to be lifted from the Britain’s Got Talent singer’s new album ‘The Gift’, which will drop before Christmas. The song, a cover version of the Lou Reed classic, will hit radio from seven o’clock AEDT tonight.
• With the singer arriving on our shores for three very special live dates, Adam Lambert will also hit the X Factor stage next Monday night to belt out a number and further endear himself to an already faithful Aussie public. We’ll also unveil some Adam giveaways on the site on Friday to celebrate his visit!
• Inertia has announced the local release of the brand new album from UK musician Brian Eno. The former Roxy Music keyboardist’s new LP is called ‘Small Craft On A Milk Sea’ and will get a local release on Friday November 05.• Cheryl Cole has released the cover image for her forthcoming UK single ‘Promise This’ (pictured). It’s the first track to be lifted from the singer’s forthcoming second album ‘Messy Little Raindrops’. Both are released in the UK within weeks, but still no word on local releases.
• The latest winners in the Telstra Road To Tamworth have been announced after a short recess over the past few weeks. In Perth, 25 year old Jonny Taylor from South Yunderup, south of Perth, was the lucky winner. And in the nation’s capital over the weekend, 26 year old Kirsty Elwell made it through. Both head to Sydney to participate in a boot camp in the hope of gaining a sought-after place in the final in Tamworth early next year.
• Frontier Touring has announced a March 2011 visit by New York outfit Swans. The punk band will tour Australia for the very first time, taking in dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Tickets are on sale on Wednesday October 27.• Australia’s Got Talent runner-up Cam Henderson (pictured above) has released his debut album ‘Angel Without Wings’. The 43 year old builder’s LP features a duet with his son Taylor (also a contestant on the show) and 10 other original songs.
• The gang from Aussie rockers Grinspoon have announced a summer tour through New South Wales. Kicking off in beautiful Byron Bay on Boxing Day, the tour will see the band performing several dates across the state. Dates and ticketing details from www.grinspoon.com.
• On the UK charts, Cee Lo Green has scored a massive debut with his hit ‘Fuck You’ (also badged as ‘Forget You’). The track roared into the No.1 position on this weeks British singles chart, beating off stiff competition from Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow’s duet ‘Shame’, which debuted at No.2. Swedish House Mafia vs. Tinie Tempah was in at No.5 and Kings Of Leon’s new single ‘Radioactive’ made its debut at No.7.
• It’s more Tinie Tempah on the British album chart – his album ‘Disco-very’ plunging into the top spot first week in. The only other album to debut in the top ten was all the way down at No.10 – A-Ha’s new LP ’25’.
• And in the world a’Twitter, Michelle Branch picked up a hitchhiker, Daniel Bedingfield was a bit freaked out (or possibly excited) by the 10/10/10 thing, and Britain’s Samuel Preston has been dreaming of long lost friends on Summer Bay.
