• It’s a bit light on this week re: Saturday news wrap bits and bobs, but what we do have for you is the final acts that have been announced to take to the stage as part of this year’s Pyramid Rock Festival on Victoria’ Phillip Island. Organisers have revealed that added to the already impressive line-up are Midnight Juggernauts, Operator Please, Belgian DJ Aeroplane, Kimbra, The Holidays and many more. • The boys from Adelaide outfit Delamare are about to hit the road for another series of live shows. They’ll be making stops in Melbourne and Sydney in the coming week, before two shows in their home town on November 06 and 07. Check HERE for more.
• More tour news, this time for Californian roots/reggae outfit Groundation, who have announced their first ever visit to Australia. The band will play dates in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria from late this month. More details HERE.
• The team at Inertia is giving Brian Eno fans a little taste of his forthcoming album ‘Small Craft On A Milk Sea’. They’re streaming three album tracks on their official website. Listen HERE.
• The New Pornographers’ upcoming Melbourne date has almost sold out, so the team at Handsome Tours have added a second show in the Victorian capital – on Thursday November 18 at the East Brunswick Club. Tickets are on sale Monday.
• On top of its debut at No.17 on the ARIA albums chart last week, Marcia Hines’ latest album ‘Marcia Sings Tapestry’ has spent a second week in the No.1 position of the ARIA jazz/blue chart.
• New Zealand songstress Brooke Fraser will be most happy this week, with a No.3 debut for her album ‘Flags’ here in Australia – and a No.1 debut on the New Zealand album chart. It’s already been certified GOLD in New Zealand, joining the first single from it (‘Something In The Water’) which has also achieved a GOLD accreditation.
• Canberra outfit Los Capitanes have been crowned Triple J’s Unearthed winners for 2010. To celebrate their win, they’ve been added to the Stonefest line-up in their hometown and will grace the stage alongside the likes of Pendulum, Bliss N Eso, Does It Offend You Yeah? and Clare Bowditch at next Saturday’s event.
• And over in the United States, Far East Movement have themselves a No.1 single on their hands with ‘Like A G6′. It moved into the No.1 spot at the expense of Bruno Mars’ ‘Just The Way You Are’ which dropped to No.2. Taylor Swift’s album track ‘Back To December’ impresses, debuting in the No.6 spot.
• And on the Billboard albums chart this week, Lil Wayne has rocketed to No.1 with ‘I Am Not A Human Being’. Darius Rucker, Big Time Rush and The Band Perry debut at Nos.2, 3 and 4 respectively, Sufjan Stevens is in at No.7 and down at No.10, another debut – this time for All That Remains.
