Hot on the heels of her No.3 debut on the UK singles, Sony Music has this week serviced Alexis Jordan’s debut single ‘Happiness’ to Australian radio.
The 18 year old songstress first rose to prominence through reality show ‘America’s Got Talent’ and was subsequently signed to Stargate’s record label StarRoc.
‘Happiness’ has already achieved success in the singer’s homeland too – picking up a respectable No.1 spot on the Billboard club chart during a 17 week stay. It borrows heavily from Deadmau5’s track ‘Brazil (2nd Edit)’ from the Canadian DJ’s album ‘Random Album Title’.
It’s pop, yes, but it’s so incredibly different to the usual swag of R&B/pop that’s dominating our charts right now – and the use of a falsetto/higher octave to sing the word ‘Happiness’ in the chorus takes the track to places one might not ordinarily imagine.
We could see ourselves really getting into this. And the clip’s great too.
