Cut Copy have spent the last few years slowly etching themselves into a rather lofty height within the Australian dance/pop musical landscape. ‘Future’ (from their debut ‘Bright Like Neon Love’) gave us an ominous warning of things to come, then through their second LP ‘In Ghost Colours’ they started to earn themselves a slice of the chart pie, with brilliant singles like ‘Lights And Music’ and ‘Hearts On Fire’.
Today the band officially announces the forthcoming release of their third album called ‘Zonoscope’.
Dubbed “their most immediate work to date but also their most sonically exquisite”, the LP was recorded in a warehouse in Melbourne throughout a six month period and the results are set to thrill and surprise when the album drops early in the new year.
“All the way along we had this weird vision of a tropical, jungle, tribal sound,” says frontman Dan Whitford. “A place or an idea that we wanted to reach with some of the songwriting; to explore a looping hypnotic trance and revise the whole palette of what Cut Copy was about.”
‘Zonoscope’ will be released in Australia on Friday February 04, in the UK and Europe on Feb 07 and in the US on Feb 08.
