TYLER JAMES : Foolish
Five years ago, Tyler James was being lauded by the critics as being ‘the next big thing’ – an artist to keep an eye on. Four years ago, Tyler James had lost his record deal with Island Records in the UK. It’s a shame too, because although Tyler’s first single ‘Why Do I Do’ wasn’t too bad, with its jangly beat and reggae influences, his second single ‘Foolish’ (also his biggest hit in Britain) was even better. An uptempo soul-filled number that showcased pretty much all of Tyler’s range – including some impressive falsetto, the track hit the UK top 20 back in 2005. But after an ill-advised cover version of White Town’s classic ‘Your Woman’ which crashed and burned in the charts and the subsequent digital-only release of his debut album ‘The Unlikely Lad’, the dream was pretty much all over before it was really given a chance.
