• EMI has announced the immediate local digital release of Snoop Dogg’s new single ‘New Years Eve’ (pictured). The track is the first single to be lifted from his forthcoming album ‘Doggumentary Music’, which is slated for a release in early March.
• Speaking of Snoop Dogg, he appears as a guest on the long-awaited new single from Dr.Dre ‘Kush’, which was serviced to Aussie radio this week by Universal Music.
• Sony has given fans of Kings Of Leon hope that the band won’t be too far away from gracing our shores, hinting that an announcement for a 2011 KOL Australian tour will be forthcoming before the end of November.
• With a swag of ARIAs under their belt, Angus & Julia Stone will be smiling even more broadly this weekend, after discovering that their latest album ‘Down The Way’ has been given a double platinum certification this week. The single ‘Big Jet Plane’ has also just achieved a platinum accreditation.
• Sydney three piece Papa VS Pretty will be gracing the stages of both the Peats Ridge and Pyramid Rock Festivals over the new year period, but they’ve also announced a couple of headline shows early next month – at the East Brunswick Club in Melbourne on December 01 and at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on December 02.
• EMI has announced a best-of album for US outfit N.E.R.D. The group spent their first two albums with EMI before disbanding, later reforming and defecting to Island Records. Though tracklist is still not confirmed, it’s currently in the schedule for a January 14 release.
• US rock outfit Linkin Park has announced another show for their forthcoming Australian tour – they’ll be hitting Canberra’s AIS Arena on Thursday December 16. Tickets on sale this Thursday.• Pocket-sized English popster Jamie Cullum (pictured, left) will soon be seen regularly on Australian television with UK TV show ‘Must Be The Music’ about to make its debut on Foxtel. He’s playing judge on the Fox8 show along with Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri and Dizzee Rascal. The series premieres on Monday November 29 at 8:30pm.
• And over on the US charts, Far East Movement has ascended to the No.1 position with their single ‘Like A G6’, while Rihanna’s single ‘Only Girl (In The World)’ is up to the No.2 spot. Pink’s now in the top five mix with her latest single ‘Raise Your Glass’, while the Glee cast’s version of Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ debuts in the No.8 spot.
• And on the US albums chart, Susan Boyle debuted in the No.1 position with her new album ‘The Gift’. 318,000 Americans decided to buy SuBo’s new LP this week, with predictions of another 300,000 copies down by next week’s chart. There were other top ten debuts too – Kid Cudi in at No.3, the latest NOW compilation at No.4 and Bon Jovi’s best-of at No.5. Reba McEntire’s new album ‘All The Women I Am’ came in at No.7 and Cee Lo Green’s album was in at No.9.
