Gotta hand it to the lads from Irish boy band Westlife. Since 1998, they’ve been churning out plenty of hit singles in the UK, a lot of them cover versions and most of them ballads. And it’s the ballads that they do so, so well.
‘Safe’ is no exception. It’s got soaring production with thanks to the amazing John Shanks (who also produced Take That’s comeback record ‘Beautiful World’), and a video that allows each the boys to do a little bit of acting. The action sequences towards the latter part of the clip just help to build the drama as the song reaches its crescendo.
Not a bad tune overall, but still no sign of the album ‘Gravity’ on the local horizon.

About time Westlife got a mention on here! The new album ‘Gravity’ is penned for release in the first quarter of 2011 – not as hyped as Take That (yeah, I went there) but quality pop with amazing vocals.

Couldn’t think of a more appropriate song title for Westlife.
